SEA Rescue Station 19 crews were called into action last night after gale force winds lifted walk-on yacht moorings at the Tuzi Gazi waterfront.

Responding to reports that at least one boat was in danger of sinking, the NSRI volunteers battled in driving rain to secure yachts, most specifically ‘Dalwhinnie’, which was in danger of being driven into other vessels or onto the slipway.
They were still hard at work when the Zululand Observer left the scene at 11pm.

Details of damage are sketchy but a full report from the NSRI is expected.
